changes

The 23rd South East Asian Games has officially ended. And so has my Sea Games volleyball frenzy. For the past week, I have never missed a single game. As a result, I have been so thrilled and so attached to the games and to the players, that the quiet, normal life all of a sudden seems new to me. I never expected myself to be this excessively fanatical over anything seagames related.

Yesterday, the Indoor Volleyball Closing and Awarding Cermony took place at the West Negros Gym, where all the volleyball matches were also held. All the Bacolodnons` yells and cheers, mine included, paid off as the RP Women`s Team went home with the bronze medal. Vietnam came in second, and the Thai women deservingly grabbed the gold. In the men`s division, Thailand also finished with gold, Indonesia with silver, and Vietnam with bronze. Although i rooted for team Philippines all the way, my heart has been captivated by the Vietnamese team. They were all so humble and sincere, the men especially. There were two Vietnamese guys in particular, Ha and Cuong, who gave me reasons to want to learn more about Vietnam culture. They were really kind and true people, even if I`ve had only about an hour`s conversation with them, in Mandarin and broken English (I have learned that most Vietnamese can`t speak English). It was a funny experience, as me and my friends were trying to understand what they were saying, and vice versa. hahaÜ That was a really funny scenario.

In addition, me and my friends, Chikki and Shayne, also had the chance of meeting the volleyball players of the RP team. We got to spend time with Billie and BJ, two of the more popular Filipino players. And the girls, they were all so accommodating. In fact, they were amazed that they were getting major attention from Bacolod people `coz back in Manila nobody really makes such a fuss over them.

Today, things are back to the way they used to be. I`m a little bit saddened by the sudden change around me, the excitement being gone and no more games to look forward to. Oh, well, nothing is permanent in life except change. So that`s it.. This is gonna be my last entry as a 20-yr old. Tomorrow, I`ll be 21. Scary!

21 and legal

I celebrated my 21st birthday yesterday. My parents had a simple yet special dinner party prepared for me. All my special friends were there, except for those not in Bacolod anymore. Although I turned a year older, I don`t feel any different at all. It was a wonderful night and the pictures tell it all...
